In celebration of National Heart Month and to raise awareness of congenital heart defects, the Stitch & Sew group at Wiseburn Library held a special event on January 10th to support the American Heart Association’s Little Hats, Big Hearts program. Beginners and pros alike gathered to knit, crochet, and use looms (donated by the Friends of the Libraries) to create beautiful red hats for preemies and newborns. Many participants took their newfound skills home and continued making hats throughout January. Altogether, the Stitch & Sew group collected 59 hats, which were donated to participating hospitals in the south bay. A Friends volunteer who attended the hat distribution at Little Company of Mary Hospital noted that the event was very inspiring.
